Leigh Creek Resort is seeking an experienced and motivated Chef to
Join our kitchen team in Leigh Creek, South Australia.
The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and
producing high-quality meals for resort guests, staff and other
customers. This is a hands-on role requiring a skilled Chef who can
work independently in a busy hospitality environment and maintain
consistently high standards of food quality, presentation, hygiene and
safety.
Key Responsibilities
The successful applicant will be responsible for:
Planning, preparing and cooking a range of meals in accordance with
menus, recipes, and customer requirements.
Preparing and cooking breakfast, lunch, and dinner services as required.
Preparing ingredients, sauces, stocks, garnishes, salads, desserts and
other food items.
Monitoring food quality, portion sizes, presentation, and consistency.
Ensuring food is prepared and stored in accordance with food safety
and hygiene requirements.
Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe kitchen and food preparation area.
Monitoring stock levels and assisting with ordering food, ingredients
and kitchen supplies.
Receiving, checking, and appropriately storing deliveries.
Minimizing food wastage and assisting with food cost control.
Maintaining appropriate records relating to food preparation, stock
and kitchen operations.
Operating and maintaining kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
Assisting with menu planning and developing dishes where required.
Ensuring meals are prepared and served within required timeframes.
Working collaboratively with kitchen and hospitality staff.
Complying with workplace health and safety, food safety and other
applicable Australian standards and regulations.
Assisting with cleaning and maintaining kitchen equipment, work areas
and facilities.
Performing other duties reasonably associated with the position of chef.
Essential Skills and Experience
Applicants should have:
Relevant qualifications in commercial cookery, such as a certificate
Diploma in Commercial Cookery or equivalent; and
Demonstrated commercial kitchen experience as a Chef; and
Strong knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques and food
safety practices;
Ability to prepare a range of meals consistently to a high standard;
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment;
Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
Good organisational and time-management skills;
Ability to maintain high standards of hygiene, cleanliness and food safety; and
Availability to work a flexible roster, including weekends, evenings
and public holidays where required.
Desirable
Experience working in a hotel, resort, restaurant or other commercial
hospitality environment.
Experience working in a regional or remote hospitality environment.
Knowledge of stock control and food cost management.
Experience preparing meals for larger groups or accommodation/resort guests.
