Il Camino is currently seeking an experienced Cook for a permanent full-time position. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and cooking a variety of Italian dishes, maintaining consistent standards of food quality and presentation, and contributing to the efficient daily operation of the kitchen.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparing and cooking a range of Italian dishes in accordance with established recipes and menu requirements.
- Preparing, measuring and portioning ingredients for daily food preparation.
- Preparing and cooking menu items, including pizzas and other Italian dishes.
- Monitoring food quality, freshness, cooking times and presentation standards.
- Operating ovens, grills and other kitchen equipment safely and correctly.
- Checking ingredient quality and ensuring appropriate food storage and stock rotation.
- Monitoring ingredient usage and minimising food wastage.
- Coordinating with kitchen staff to maintain efficient food preparation and service.
- Maintaining cleanliness and organisation of kitchen equipment, utensils and work areas.
- Ensuring compliance with food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety requirements.
About You
- At least 1 year of relevant experience as a Cook or in a similar commercial kitchen role.
- Good knowledge of food preparation and cooking techniques.
- Experience preparing and cooking Italian dishes, including pizzas.
- Ability to follow recipes and maintain consistent food quality and presentation.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work efficiently in a busy kitchen environment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to food safety and hygiene standards.
