Senior Employee Communications Officer

We are seeking a Senior Employee Communications Officer to join a government department and play a key role in delivering strategic internal communications and employee engagement initiatives across the organisation.

You will work closely with senior leaders and General Managers to develop and deliver communication strategies that support organisational priorities, major projects, culture and employee engagement. The role will involve developing communication plans, key messaging, Q&As, presentations and engagement activities, as well as advising stakeholders on effective employee communication approaches.

Key responsibilities:

• Develop and deliver strategic employee communication and engagement plans.
• Partner with senior leaders and business stakeholders to deliver major internal communications.
• Develop messaging, Q&As, presentations and communication materials for key initiatives.
• Support employee events, roadshows, briefings and engagement activities.
• Monitor communication channels and employee insights to identify opportunities for improvement.
• Build trusted relationships across the organisation and provide strategic communications advice.

About you:

• Strong experience in employee/internal communications, ideally within a large, complex organisation.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, with confidence working with senior leaders.
• Experience delivering communications across diverse employee groups, including frontline or operational workforces.
• Experience within a utility, construction or similarly operational environment is highly desirable.
• Government experience would be advantageous.
