Payroll Systems Team Lead

KEY POINTS WE FOUND
  • Lead technical administrator for the RosterOn system.
  • Oversee a small team of System Administrators and manage helpdesk tickets.
  • Support the fortnightly pay run process and lead UAT activities.

About the Company
Our client is a large, iconic Melbourne organisation with a workforce of 7,000 employees — 5,000 of whom are processed fortnightly through a complex time and attendance environment. This is a rare opportunity to step in as the resident technical expert and make a genuine impact from day one.

About the Role
This is a hands-on technical leadership role — roughly 75% operational and 25% leadership/project. You'll be the primary subject matter expert for the organisation's RosterOn time and attendance platform, overseeing day-to-day system health, data integrity, and managing a small team of two System Administrators. You'll also play a critical role in the fortnightly pay run cycle and drive project work that keeps payroll running compliantly and efficiently.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Serve as the lead technical administrator for the RosterOn system, owning configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting
  • Oversee the daily activities of two System Administrators, providing direction on ticket resolution, testing, and query management
  • Manage and personally resolve helpdesk tickets — this role gets its hands dirty
  • Support the fortnightly pay run process, including Sunday and Monday system tasks, with on-call backup availability on Sundays as required
  • Lead UAT and system testing activities; investigate issues and guide the team on resolution
  • Partner with the Payroll Compliance Specialist to investigate and resolve system-driven compliance issues

What You'll Bring

  • RosterOn experience is non-negotiable — this is the number one requirement
  • 2–3 years in a systems lead, senior system administrator, or project analyst role with demonstrated technical depth
  • Strong understanding of time and attendance systems and their integration with payroll platforms
  • Experience with ADP (advantageous) and SuccessFactors data integration (beneficial)
  • Background in healthcare or government sectors highly regarded — the stakeholder landscape and operational complexity of this environment will be familiar territory

What's on Offer

  • $140,000 - $150,000 including superannuation (commensurate with experience)
  • Hybrid working - 3 days office, 2 home
  • Lead a small, capable team
  • Meaningful work

Interested?
If RosterOn is your wheelhouse and you're ready to step into a role where your technical expertise will genuinely be valued, we'd love to hear from you.
