Youth Minister - St Joseph's Parish Nambour
Location: Nambour, Sunshine Coast
Employment: Casual
Make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people
St Joseph's Parish Nambour is seeking an enthusiastic and community-minded Youth Minister to help strengthen connections with young people across the Parish and local Catholic school communities.
This casual opportunity would suit someone who enjoys working with young people, building relationships and creating opportunities for connection, participation and personal development.
Working closely with the Parish Priest, parish team, local Catholic schools and youth leaders, you will develop and deliver youth ministry programs and activities that encourage young people to become involved in parish and community life.
About the role
As Youth Minister, you will have the opportunity to shape and grow youth engagement across the Parish. No two weeks will necessarily look the same - you could be coordinating a youth gathering, connecting with students at a local school, supporting emerging youth leaders, planning an upcoming event or working with the parish team on new ways to engage young people.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Developing, coordinating and delivering engaging youth programs, gatherings and events.
- Building genuine, positive and appropriate relationships with young people.
- Providing pastoral support and creating welcoming opportunities for young people to become involved.
- Developing strong connections between the Parish and local Catholic schools.
- Supporting and mentoring young people to develop their confidence and leadership skills.
- Coordinating opportunities including retreats, conferences, community outreach and other youth activities.
- Working collaboratively with families, parish staff, volunteers, schools and other community stakeholders.
- Supporting the planning, promotion and ongoing development of youth ministry across the Parish.
About you
We are looking for someone who brings:
- Experience working with and engaging young people.
- Relevant qualifications in youth ministry, theology, pastoral ministry, education, community services or a related area, or relevant practical experience.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to plan and coordinate youth programs, activities and events.
- Strong organisation, initiative and ability to work collaboratively.
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends when required.
- A current driver licence
- A current Blue Card and National Criminal History Check, or the ability to obtain these.
- Evidence of right to work in Australia.
Why join us?
This is an opportunity to take an active role in a welcoming local community and help create meaningful experiences for young people. You will have the opportunity to bring your own ideas and creativity to the role while working alongside schools, families, volunteers, youth leaders and the wider Parish community.
Applications should be submitted via SEEK. We will also process applications received through our official channels (intranet, website, or LinkedIn).
