Exciting opportunities are available for Heavy Vehicle Mechanics to join our Defence Maintenance Contract team at the Joint Maintenance Precinct, located at RAAF Base Edinburgh, just north of Adelaide.

In this role, you'll perform servicing, maintenance and repairs across a diverse fleet of Defence vehicles and equipment, including 4WDs, trucks, tracked and armoured vehicles, infantry carriers, and a range of combat and training mobility equipment.

About the role
As a trusted Defence Industry Partner, Ventia operates in a highly regulated and technology-enabled environment. Alongside your core mechanical duties, you'll be expected to confidently manage digital systems, record-keeping, security requirements and compliance processes that are essential to supporting Defence operations. This responsibility sits alongside more traditional Heavy Vehicle Mechanic activities, including:

  • Conduct scheduled servicing, inspections, technical classifications and preventative maintenance activities. 
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical faults across a range of Defence vehicles and equipment. 
  • Remove, repair and refit major assemblies, including engines, transmissions and differentials. 
  • Diagnose, test and repair vehicle electrical systems, including lighting, ignition and electronic fuel injection systems. 
  • Carry out minor body repairs and component replacements as required. 
  • Reassemble, test, clean and adjust repaired or replaced components. 
  • Complete maintenance activities and associated documentation in accordance with Defence, safety and manufacturer instructions, ensuring a high standard of workmanship.
  • Contribute to a safe, compliant and efficient workshop environment.

About you

  • Cert III in Heavy Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent trade qualification. 
  • Flexible, patient and resilient, with the ability to adapt to changing operational requirements. 
  • Confident using digital systems and completing documentation and administrative requirements.
  • Proven experience servicing, diagnosing, repairing and maintaining light, medium and heavy vehicles. 
  • Current Australian driver’s licence. 
  • Strong commitment to safety, quality workmanship and compliance standards. 
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

You must be an Australian Citizen and able to obtain and maintain a minimum Australian Government Baseline Security Clearance.
