Tree Management Officer - Council (7-Month Contract)
Location: Western Sydney, NSW
Type: Contract, 7 months with possible extension
Pay: $72.50 per hour + super
Hours: 35 hours per week (7 hours per day)
Start: Late October (ideal) until mid/late April
About the Role
Charterhouse is partnering with a NSW Council to find a experienced Tree Management professionals for 7-month contracts, with possible extensions. You'll inspect and manage the Council's public tree assets, reporting tree issues, and support the delivery of the Council's Tree Planting and Replacement Programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect Council's public tree assets to determine health, condition and maintenance requirements
- Process Tree Preservation Order applications, including site inspections, expert advice to residents and drafting permits
- Investigate reported accidents or damage involving street, park or Council property trees, including root damage
- Program and monitor works under the Tree Planting and Replacement Programs
- Provide expert advice on tree management to the community, staff and Council
- Assist the Open Space Policy and Tree Management Coordinator with managing the Tree Preservation Order and preparing monthly status reports on program performance and budget
- Draft correspondence and reports as required
- Operate and maintain computing systems for collecting and processing information
- Where the role includes volunteer coordination
About You
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Arboriculture or a related field
- Extensive experience across all aspects of tree management
- Current Class C Driver's Licence
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical advice clearly to residents and colleagues
- Confident writing reports and correspondence
