Erskine Park, NSW | Full-time | 5 days onsite

At Stramit, we’re one of Australia’s leading manufacturers and suppliers of roll-formed steel building products. We support the construction industry through reliable products, strong customer relationships and operational teams that keep materials moving safely and efficiently.

We’re looking for an experienced Transport & Fleet Coordinator to take ownership of daily transport planning and delivery execution across local operations.

This is not an administration-focused position. It’s a hands-on transport operations role for someone who understands fleet allocation, driver coordination and the realities of getting complex deliveries out safely, efficiently and on time.

You might currently be a Fleet Allocator, Transport Supervisor, Senior Dispatcher, Driver or experienced Transport Coordinator who enjoys being close to the operation but doesn’t necessarily want the accountability of a Transport Manager position.

The opportunity
You’ll sit at the centre of our daily transport operation, coordinating delivery schedules, allocating transport capacity and working closely with our transport provider, customers and internal teams.

You’ll use your operational judgement to balance customer requirements, available capacity, site constraints and changing priorities. When issues arise, you’ll take ownership, make practical decisions and keep people informed.

This role will suit someone who is comfortable working autonomously, enjoys solving problems and knows how to keep a busy transport operation moving.

What you’ll be responsible for

  • Owning daily transport planning and delivery scheduling across Sydney
  • Allocating transport capacity to meet customer and operational requirements
  • Coordinating drivers and transport providers to keep deliveries on schedule
  • Managing complex, high-volume and time-sensitive delivery requirements
  • Reviewing routes, loads and delivery plans to improve fleet utilisation
  • Responding quickly and practically to delays, access issues and changing priorities
  • Monitoring delivery performance and taking action to improve DIFOT
  • Identifying opportunities to reduce unnecessary transport costs
  • Working closely with manufacturing, customer service, sales and supply chain teams
  • Supporting compliance with Chain of Responsibility, fatigue management and relevant transport requirements
  • Building effective working relationships with drivers, customers and operational stakeholders
  • Contributing practical ideas to improve transport processes and performance

What you’ll bring
You’ll have solid, hands-on experience in transport operations and be confident making day-to-day decisions in a busy environment.
Ideally, you’ll bring:

  • Experience in fleet allocation, transport planning, dispatch, scheduling or PUD operations
  • Previous experience as a Transport Supervisor, Fleet Allocator, Senior Dispatcher or experienced Transport Coordinator
  •  A practical understanding of drivers, transport capacity, delivery scheduling and route planning
  • Confidence coordinating transport providers and resolving operational issues
  • The ability to work autonomously and take ownership of transport outcomes
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm when plans change
  • An understanding of transport cost, fleet utilisation and service performance
  • Knowledge of Chain of Responsibility, fatigue management, NHVR or HVNL requirements
  • Strong communication skills across drivers, customers and operational teams
  • Confidence using transport, ERP and Microsoft Office systems

Formal management experience isn’t essential. What matters is your transport knowledge, operational judgement and ability to take ownership of the day-to-day operation.

Why join Stramit?

  • Join a stable Australian manufacturer backed by Fletcher Building
  • Take ownership of an important transport operation without the expectations of a senior management role
  • Use your practical experience to influence service, cost and operational outcomes
  • Work closely with an experienced and supportive operational team
  • Build broader capability across transport, manufacturing and supply chain
  • Access employee benefits including Perkbox, Fitness Passport, paid parental leave and product discounts

If you know transport, can confidently coordinate a busy delivery operation and enjoy solving problems on the go, this could be the right next step for you.
