Lead Microservices & AI Technical Architect contract opportunity

Your new company
Joina consultancy supporting a major Federal Government department at the forefrontof digital transformation and innovation. You'll play a pivotal role inestablishing enterprise-scale microservices and AI-enabled engineeringcapabilities that will shape how digital services are delivered across theorganisation.

Your new role
As the Lead Microservices & AI Technical Architect, you will provide strategic technical leadership and architectural governance across a significant business transformation program. Working closely with senior stakeholders, engineering teams and delivery partners, you will drive the adoption of cloud-native architectures, modern engineering practices and AI-enabled delivery capabilities.Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading architecture design and governance for cloud-native and microservices platforms
  • Driving adoption of AI-enabled engineering practices and enterprise AI capabilities
  • Establishing DevSecOps, CI/CD, observability and platform engineering standards
  • Influencing enterprise technology decisions and transformation initiatives
  • Leading multidisciplinary engineering teams and providing technical mentorship
  • Supporting platform modernisation, integration and containerisation programs
  • Building organisational capability through knowledge transfer and engineering governance

What you'll need to succeed

  • Extensive experience designing and governing enterprise-scale microservices and event-driven architectures
  • Strong cloud architecture experience, ideally within Azure environments
  • Deep expertise across AI engineering, machine learning, semantic search or enterprise AI solutions
  • Proven leadership experience delivering large-scale transformation programs
  • Strong background across DevSecOps, CI/CD, platform engineering and software delivery practices
  • Experience with container platforms such as Kubernetes, OpenShift, AKS, EKS or GKE
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and executive communication skills
  • Baseline clearance preferable but open to Australian Citizens able to obtain and hold security clearance
