Team Leader Tree Maintenance

KEY POINTS WE FOUND
  • Lead a team of Arborists and Apprentices in maintaining public trees.
  • Coordinate tree maintenance activities including pruning, removals, and stump grinding.
  • Provide technical guidance and ensure safety in all operations.

Work that matters, done with people who care.

As Team Leader Tree Maintenance, you lead a small team of Arborists and Apprentices maintaining Council's public trees across streetscapes, parks and open spaces throughout Blacktown. You organise daily work, provide technical guidance, supervise staff and help ensure tree maintenance activities are completed safely and efficiently.

You coordinate tree pruning, removals and stump grinding, operate and maintain equipment including chainsaws, chippers and stump grinders, and undertake aerial climbing and rigging where required. You inspect trees, coordinate work sites, manage traffic and pedestrian controls, conduct toolbox talks and mentor apprentice Arborists in all aspects of tree maintenance.

This is practical, hands-on work that keeps streets, parks and public spaces safe and well maintained. From removing hazardous branches and maintaining Council's urban forest to supporting tree planting programs and responding to tree maintenance needs, your work contributes to a greener, safer city that residents use every day.

We offer a stable, permanent work environment with practical benefits that support your lifestyle. We invest in your development through ongoing training, additional certifications and opportunities to strengthen your leadership and arboriculture skills.

This role suits a qualified Arborist and experienced team leader who enjoys working outdoors, leading by example and sharing knowledge while making a visible difference across Blacktown.

At Blacktown City Council, good people make great teams, and great teams build great cities. Here, you will find the stability and support to keep growing, along with:

  • a secure, permanent, full-time role with one of Australia's largest councils
  • an entry level salary commencing at $1,566.66 per week
  • a 38-hour working week
  • a Rostered Day Off (RDO) every fortnight
  • 12% superannuation and competitive leave entitlements
  • ongoing training and development support
  • access to Fitness Passport, social clubs and wellbeing programs.
