  • Lead year-end delivery with minimal supervision, adding immediate value through proactive problem solving and stakeholder engagement.
  • Own and optimise year-end process coordination and workflows, ensuring tax systems meet industry best practices.
  • Engage with clients, consultants, partners, and auditors to manage year-end deliverables and improve operational efficiency.

This is a unique new senior-level role that combines technical fund accounting and strategic process management. The successful candidate will take ownership of year-end process coordination, optimise workflows and drive forward initiatives such as UT and fund accounting projects. The role supports the Tax Services team and the broader Fund Services teams in delivering the desired level of service to clients, both operationally and through change. It manages, facilitates and executes legislation changes and non-BAU initiatives, acting as the business and technical expert working with the Product and Client Line to manage change via process improvements or systems upgrades. The successful candidate will act as a central pillar for the team, interfacing daily with internal tax and fund accounting teams, external clients, investment managers and fund service providers.

The role is also responsible for ensuring all client year-end and half-yearly deliverables are met, including coordinating planning and delivery across internal and external stakeholders, issue log management, reporting to senior management, logistics, assessing project impacts, post-implementation reviews and managing Year End Program Steer Cos.

Role Responsibilities

  • Lead year-end delivery with minimal supervision, adding immediate value through proactive problem solving and stakeholder engagement

  • Drive forward projects and initiatives, including UT and fund accounting workstreams
  • Liaise with product, technical and other operational teams to ensure new product offerings, services or legislation changes are deployed successfully to production
  • Manage client and auditor queries through any tax change process
  • Actively drive initiatives aimed at improving efficiency and reducing operational risk
  • Engage externally with clients, consultants, partners and auditors
  • Act as central coordinator for Year End deliverables
  • Manage timetable tracking and reporting progress
  • Gather Year End requirements from all stakeholders
  • Manage logs of outstanding issues/actions for Fund Services
  • Facilitate regular meetings with all business coordinators
  • Conduct post year-end review

Role Requirements

  • Strong foundational knowledge of tax within a fund accounting context
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to navigate complex, multi-stakeholder environments (internal tax and fund accounting teams, clients, investment managers, fund service providers)
  • A self-motivated, highly accountable working style, comfortable operating with a high degree of autonomy and minimal supervision
  • Experience in a similar role and/or at least 8 years' experience, at a senior level, in fund administration, custody or investment operations, with unit trusts and/or superannuation funds
  • Awareness of all aspects of a complex master custody environment; a project-management mindset for solving logistical timetable problems through low-risk, practical solutions
  • Detailed knowledge of tax accounting principles for financial instruments, trusts, superannuation funds, life and insurance companies
  • Knowledge of fund accounting, reporting, and related operational risk and compliance requirements
  • Demonstrated history of successful internal and external stakeholder management
  • Ability to escalate issues for resolution and ensure all work meets compliance standards for sign-off
  • Degree or Diploma qualified in Business or Accounting
  • Workflow or business intelligence skills, with the ability to collate and present data/metrics, will be an advantage
