Systems Accountant – Finance Systems (Workday)

CBD Based Role | Full-time | 12-month contract | $130,000–$140,000 + super

We are seeking an experienced Systems Accountant to join our Finance team and support our existing Systems Accountant in managing Workday Financials. This is a hands-on role combining accounting expertise, system administration, reporting and finance transformation.

About the Role Reporting to the Head of Finance, you will work closely with the existing Systems Accountant to support the ongoing administration, configuration, reporting, data integrity and continuous improvement of Workday Financials.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the administration and configuration of Workday Financials, including Business Process Framework, FDM, security and validations.
  • Assist with system issues, releases, integrations and finance master data.
  • Support finance system implementations, upgrades, migrations and process improvement projects.
  • Develop requirements, functional designs, testing plans and documentation.
  • Build and maintain Workday reports, dashboards and calculated fields.
  • Support data migration, change management, training and go-live activities.
  • Identify opportunities to automate and improve finance processes.
  • Assist with month-end close, reconciliations, allocations and system controls.
  • Support segregation of duties, audit and compliance requirements.

About You You will ideally have:

  • CA/CPA qualification or equivalent.
  • Hands-on experience administering/configuring Workday Financials, including FDM, Business Process Framework and Report Writer.
  • Experience delivering or supporting a significant finance systems implementation, upgrade, migration or transformation project.
  • Strong accounting knowledge and advanced Excel/data analysis skills.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Strong documentation, problem-solving and analytical capabilities.

Desirable: Workday Pro certification, Adaptive Planning, Prism Analytics, EIB/Workday Studio, Power BI, SQL, project/grant accounting or experience in not-for-profit, higher education, research or government.
