The Role

We are currently seeking casual Stewards to join our Kitchen team.

As Steward, you will be responsible for maintaining a high level of cleanliness and quality in all kitchens, ensuring that food preparation areas meet stringent hygiene standards. You will support the setup and teardown of events, assist with inventory management, and provide exceptional service to guests. Your role is crucial in upholding safety protocols and creating a positive and efficient environment within the hospitality and events setting.

About the Role

Reporting to the Executive Chef and Cheif Steward, in this role you will:

• Maintain a clean, safe, and organised kitchen environment, ensuring all areas, equipment, storage spaces, and workstations meet hygiene and HACCP standards.
• Clean and sanitise kitchen equipment, utensils, cookware, service ware, floors, walls, drains, and food preparation areas in line with established procedures.
• Operate dishwashing and pot-washing equipment, ensuring all crockery, cutlery, pots, and pans are cleaned and maintained to a high standard.
• Support daily kitchen operations by preparing equipment, maintaining stock and storage areas, and assisting with function and banquet setups.
• Assist with buffet preparation, service support, clearing, polishing cutlery, and maintaining presentation standards across restaurant and event areas.
• Work efficiently both independently and as part of the wider culinary team, demonstrating initiative, attention to detail, and compliance with safety and sanitation requirements.

About You

• Experience working in a fast-paced commercial kitchen or hospitality environment, with a strong understanding of kitchen operations.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with team members across the kitchen and wider hotel operations.
• A positive and proactive mindset with a willingness to learn and support the team.
• High attention to detail with a commitment to maintaining cleanliness, organisation, and accuracy in all tasks.
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities, work under pressure, and manage tasks efficiently in a dynamic environment.
• Understanding of workplace health and safety practices, with a commitment to following hygiene, sanitation, and safety standards.
