Senior Accountant – Tax & SMSF
Townsville, CBD | Full-Time
This client, a growing accounting practice in Townsville, is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join their team.
This is a hands-on role suited to an accountant who is confident managing a portfolio of clients and completing a broad range of taxation, compliance and SMSF work from start to finish.
Key Responsibilities

• Preparation and lodgement of Individual Tax Returns
• Company, Trust and Partnership tax returns
• Preparation of financial statements and year-end accounts
• SMSF financial statements and tax returns
• BAS and IAS preparation and lodgement
• GST and PAYG compliance
• Tax planning and year-end tax matters
• Preparation of workpapers and reconciliations
• Liaising with the ATO and ASIC where required
• Reviewing client records and identifying outstanding information
• Assisting clients with general taxation and accounting queries
• Managing jobs through to completion and ensuring lodgement deadlines are met

About You
The successful candidate:

• Has strong Australian public practice accounting experience
• Has solid knowledge of Australian taxation and compliance requirements
• Is experienced across individuals, companies, trusts, partnerships and SMSFs
• Can independently prepare financial statements and tax returns from start to finish
• Has strong attention to detail and takes ownership of their work
• Is organised and capable of managing multiple client deadlines
• Has excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Is comfortable communicating directly with clients
• Has experience with accounting and tax software such as Xero, Xero Tax, MYOB, Class Super or BGL

CA/CPA/IPA qualifications or progress towards qualification will be highly regarded.
