Summary

Our client Greenock General Store is a locally operated convenience and general retail business serving Greenock and the wider Barossa region. Our client is seeking to add a Retail Manager to oversee daily store operations, staff supervision, stock control, merchandising, customer service, financial administration and compliance, while maintaining efficient service standards across fuel, general merchandise, food, refreshments and other convenience offerings.

The typical job responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:

• Manage daily operations of the general store, ensuring efficient, organised and customer-focused service.

• Supervise retail staff, coordinate rosters, allocate duties and support ongoing training and performance.

• Maintain inventory levels, monitor stock movement and arrange timely replenishment of merchandise and consumables.

• Implement effective stock rotation, merchandising and product presentation to maximise availability and customer appeal.

• Monitor sales performance, identify trends and implement practical strategies to support revenue growth.

• Prepare and review financial, sales and operational reports to support effective store management decisions.

• Manage supplier relationships, coordinate purchasing and negotiate pricing, delivery schedules and product quality requirements.

• Resolve escalated customer enquiries and complaints promptly while maintaining high standards of customer satisfaction.

• Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety, food handling and applicable retail regulations.

• Oversee point-of-sale systems, cash handling, retail software and associated administrative processes.

• Maintain high standards of store cleanliness, presentation, organisation and operational readiness throughout trading hours.

• Oversee preparation and sale of takeaway food and refreshments in line with food safety requirements.

• Implement operational procedures and process improvements that strengthen efficiency, service consistency and store performance.

• Coordinate fuel, general merchandise, food and convenience retail activities across the store's daily operations.

Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements to be considered for the role:

• A Diploma-level qualification in retail management, business, hospitality, commerce or another closely related field is required.

• At least one year of demonstrated retail management experience in a supervisory or managerial capacity is essential.

• Strong experience supervising staff, preparing rosters, providing training and maintaining consistent customer service standards across daily operations.

• Demonstrated ability to manage inventory, stock rotation, purchasing, supplier relationships and timely replenishment of retail products.

• Sound knowledge of workplace health and safety, food handling and relevant retail compliance obligations is highly desirable.

• Proven capability in monitoring sales, preparing operational reports, controlling costs and supporting store profitability and performance.

• Competence using point-of-sale systems, retail management software and administrative processes within a busy customer-facing environment.

• Strong communication, problem-solving and organisational skills, with the ability to resolve customer issues and coordinate competing priorities.
