The opportunity
  
This key leadership role will drive the direction and oversight of quality and governance across the organisation’s aged care services. With overall responsibility for clinical governance, quality systems, regulatory compliance, risk management, consumer safeguarding and continuous improvement, it will play a key role in ensuring consistently high standards of safe, accountable and person-centred care. 

  • Set and lead the development and implementation of a robust clinical governance framework, creating clear lines of accountability, effective assurance processes and transparent reporting across quality, risk, compliance and clinical performance.
  • Ensure all external communications, including those to regulators, partners, and stakeholders, are accurate, timely, and aligned with internal governance standards, legislative obligations, and reputation management protocols.
  • Develop and maintain Risk Management Framework.
  • Measure overall feedback and inform Quality Improvement Initiatives and Governance Systems.
  • Support operational managers with auditing requirements, gap analysis, continuous improvement initiatives and operational risk management.
  • Identify, assess and mitigate risks by leading investigations and establishing strategies to prevent recurrence including development and use of a risk register.
  • Develop and maintain a QCAB and oversee timely communication with Board.
  • Be part of the Clinical Governance committee and write committee reports for the Board, ensuring comprehensive overview and transparency, good line of sight of performance against benchmarks, and mitigation of risks.

About you

  • You are an AHPRA Registered Nurse with at least 5 years of clinical nursing experience, and two-three years+ in an aged care quality and governance manager role
  • Demonstrates strong understanding of the Strengthened Aged Care Quality Standards, SIRS, risk identification, incident investigation, and leading organisation-wide improvement initiatives.
  • High-level analytical and critical thinking, with an ability to proactively align operations with governing standards.
  • Proven success in managing accreditation processes, internal audits, and clinical
  • governance systems.
  • Experience reporting to Boards, executive teams, and regulatory bodies.
  • A supportive and collaborative leader with sound decision making skills who is self-motivated, objective and committed to achieving sustainable results.
  • Competence in document control, data analysis, and digital quality systems.
  • High attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities under pressure.
