Procurement Officer
6-Month Contract | Likely to Extend | Procurement | Contracts | Stakeholder Engagement

We are currently seeking a Procurement Officer to join a busy procurement function within a well-established public sector organisation.
This is a 6-month contract initially, with a strong likelihood of extension longer term. The role will suit a procurement professional who understands the end-to-end procurement process and can confidently work with internal stakeholders and suppliers to deliver compliant, commercially sound outcomes.

The Role
Reporting to the Senior Procurement Business Partner, you will support a range of procurement activities from initial business requirements through to sourcing, tendering, contract award and ongoing contract management.
Key responsibilities will include:

  • Managing and reviewing end-to-end procurement and sourcing activities in line with established policies and procedures
  • Supporting the management of procurement panels and self-service purchasing channels
  • Assisting with contract management, including resolving issues and negotiating variations to purchase orders, contracts and agreements
  • Maintaining accurate procurement records and preparing reporting on procurement and contract activity
  • Providing procurement advice and support to internal stakeholders, including guidance on procurement processes, policy thresholds and best practice
  • Delivering training and support on procurement systems and processes
  • Identifying, managing and escalating procurement risks where required
  • Applying procurement governance and risk management frameworks across procurement activities
  • Supporting probity and governance requirements with internal stakeholders and suppliers
  • Keeping up to date with procurement policies, processes, legislation and relevant market developments

About You
We are looking for a procurement professional who can operate with a good level of autonomy and is comfortable working across multiple stakeholders and competing priorities.
You will ideally have:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent professional experience, education and training
  • Experience across end-to-end procurement, including business planning, needs analysis, sourcing, tendering and contract award
  • Strong knowledge of procurement and contract management frameworks
  • The ability to manage procurement matters with minimal supervision
  • An understanding of procurement governance, risk and relevant legislative requirements
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent stakeholder management and interpersonal skills
