Pharmacy Technician (ANZSCO 311215)
- Assist with preparing and labelling prescriptions under pharmacist supervision.
- Monitor stock levels and maintain inventory records.
- Provide support to patients with prescription collection and administrative enquiries.
We are seeking an experienced Pharmacy Technician to support our pharmacists with prescription preparation, medication labelling, pharmacy records and stock management.
Key responsibilities
• Assist with preparing, filling, packaging and labelling prescriptions under pharmacist supervision.
• Enter prescription and patient information accurately into pharmacy dispensing software.
• Prepare prescriptions for the pharmacist’s final check before supply to patients.
• Refer prescription discrepancies and medication enquiries to the pharmacist.
• Assist with preparing dose administration aids under pharmacist supervision.
• Monitor stock levels, place orders, receive deliveries and maintain inventory records.
• Ensure medications are stored correctly, monitor expiry dates and storage temperatures, and manage expired stock according to pharmacy procedures.
• Maintain clean and organised dispensing areas and follow workplace safety procedures.
• Assist patients with prescription collection and administrative enquiries, referring clinical questions to the pharmacist.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and accurate pharmacy records.
Qualifications and experience
• A relevant Diploma or higher qualification, or an equivalent overseas qualification. At least three years of relevant experience may substitute for the qualification.
• A minimum of three years of relevant experience as a Pharmacy Technician.
• Experience using pharmacy dispensing software and managing medication stock.
• Strong attention to detail, communication and organisational skills.
• Ability to work effectively under pharmacist supervision in a busy pharmacy.
