Your new company
Hays Recruitment has partnered with a family-owned and operated bus and coach charter service based in the Ballarat region. Operating a fleet of 25 vehicles, the business has built a strong reputation for delivering exceptional customer service, safety, and reliability.
Due to a recent change in office structure, they are seeking an experienced Operations Manager to join the team in a full-time capacity, based at their Sebastopol depot.
Your new role
As the Operations Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the business and ensuring services are delivered safely, efficiently, and on schedule. Your responsibilities will include:
- Scheduling buses and allocating drivers
- Coordinating activities associated with bus departures, arrivals, and daily operations
- Rostering drivers and operational staff
- Monitoring service performance and responding to late running or missed trips
- Continually overseeing network operations and driver activity
- Providing a high level of customer and client service, including follow-up communication
- Managing driver performance, attendance, and fatigue management requirements in line with NHVR regulations
- Responding to road incidents in accordance with company procedures
- Providing operational coverage in the event of employee absences
- Ensuring drivers complete all required safety checks and work diary entries
- Working closely with the maintenance team to ensure vehicles are serviced and maintained according to schedule
- Assisting with bus runs, including driving and passenger pick-up and drop-off duties when required
- Promoting a positive team culture and maintaining high staff morale
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Demonstrated experience in logistics, fleet management, or operational leadership, ideally within the transport industry
- Proven experience leading and managing teams in a fast-paced environment
- The ability to prioritise competing demands and work effectively to deadlines
- A current MR Licence or above (HR or HC preferred)
- Strong knowledge of workplace health and safety requirements relevant to the transport industry
- Sound computer skills and the ability to quickly learn new systems and programs
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- A strong driving history and the ability to obtain a CPVV Driver Certificate
- Willingness to undergo a Police Check and Working with Children Check
