Operations Lead (AVP/VP Level) | Private Equity Asset Manager

An opportunity to build the operational backbone of a high-conviction, founder-led private equity platform from the ground up.

About the opportunity

Platinum Pacific Partners is partnering with an independent, founder-led private equity asset manager headquartered in Melbourne to appoint a newly created Operations Lead. Founded by an experienced team with deep institutional private equity credentials, the firm now manages approximately A$1.7bn on behalf of a select group of institutional investors and family offices, offering bespoke global mandates, fund commitments, co-investments and direct opportunities. With a presence across global markets, the firm has built strong relationships with, and access to, leading fund managers well beyond what its size would suggest.

This is a standalone, high-ownership role created off the back of the firm’s continued growth, working closely with the founders and wider team. You’ll take ownership of fund operations, compliance, vendor management, client onboarding and data infrastructure, with genuine scope to build scalable processes as the platform matures, not simply administer someone else’s playbook.

As a newly created position, the firm is open on level, AVP or VP, for the right candidate, so this will be shaped around the calibre and experience of the person appointed.

What you’ll be doing

• Fund, finance and investment operations, owning the day-to-day workflows that keep the platform running smoothly
• Compliance, managing all regulatory matters and the firm’s relationship with its compliance consultants and relevant regulatory bodies
• Back and middle office oversight, ensuring accuracy and efficiency across fund operations
• Client onboarding, partnering with the wider team to deliver a smooth, well-governed experience for institutional and HNW investors
• Vendor and service provider management, including fund administrators, accountants, auditors and other operational partners
• Data management and reporting infrastructure, supporting investment, client and operational teams
• Process design and systems implementation, leading projects that improve operational efficiency as the firm grows
• Building scalable infrastructure alongside the founders, with real influence over how the platform is shaped

What we’re looking for

• Tertiary qualification in Finance, Accounting or a related discipline; CA or CPA preferred
• Likely five to ten years’ experience, with strong operational experience in funds management, ideally in alternative investments and gained within a boutique environment
• A track record of operating in a high-performing, hands-on environment
• Ability to operate strategically while remaining hands-on in a lean, entrepreneurial setting
• Commercially minded, with strong judgement and a collaborative approach to working across a small, close-knit team
• Exposure to complex entity and ownership structures
• Comfortable working in ambiguity and building solutions from scratch
• Strong attention to detail, systems-oriented, with a focus on automation and data integrity
• Confident communicator with the ability to influence senior stakeholders
• High ownership mindset and accountability
