Salary: $80,000 plus superannuation per annum

Our client is seeking is seeking an experienced Motor Mechanic to join their team in Huntingdale, Victoria.

The Motor Mechanic will be responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, servicing and repairing a wide range of passenger and light motor vehicles. The role requires strong mechanical and diagnostic skills and the ability to identify and rectify faults across vehicle engine, transmission, braking, steering, suspension and related systems.

The successful candidate will perform scheduled maintenance and mechanical repairs in accordance with manufacturer specifications and workshop standards while ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently and to a high professional standard.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

·Inspect and diagnose mechanical and related faults in passenger and light motor vehicles using appropriate diagnostic equipment and testing procedures.

·Diagnose faults in engines, transmissions, braking, steering, suspension and other mechanical systems.

·Use electronic diagnostic scan tools and computer-based diagnostic equipment to identify vehicle faults and interpret diagnostic trouble codes and live vehicle data.

·Dismantle and remove engine assemblies, transmissions, steering mechanisms, suspension components and other mechanical systems where required for inspection and repair.

·Inspect mechanical components for wear, damage and defects and determine appropriate repair or replacement requirements.

·Repair and replace worn, damaged or defective mechanical components and reassemble vehicle systems in accordance with manufacturer specifications.

·Carry out scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance, including engine oil and filter replacement, fluid inspections and replacement, brake inspections and other manufacturer-specified maintenance procedures.

·Inspect, service and repair vehicle braking systems, including brake pads, discs, hydraulic components and related systems.

·Inspect, diagnose and repair steering and suspension systems, including shock absorbers, control arms, bushes, wheel bearings and related components.

·Diagnose and repair engine performance and drivability issues.

·Test and adjust mechanical components following repairs to ensure correct operation and performance.

·Conduct vehicle road tests before and after repairs where required to confirm faults and verify that repairs have been completed successfully.

·Refer to manufacturer technical information, workshop manuals, wiring information and service specifications when carrying out diagnostic and repair work.

·Identify additional mechanical defects or maintenance requirements discovered during inspection and report findings to the Workshop Manager.

·Provide accurate information regarding required parts, repair procedures and estimated repair requirements.

·Complete workshop job cards, inspection reports and service records accurately.

·Ensure tools, diagnostic equipment and workshop equipment are used correctly and maintained in good working condition.

·Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment.

·Comply with workplace health and safety requirements, environmental requirements and company workshop procedures.

·Perform other related automotive mechanical duties consistent with the Motor Mechanic (General) occupation as reasonably required.

Requirements:

·Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent relevant qualification

·At least three (3) years of practical experience working as a Motor Mechanic or Automotive Technician

·Current Australian driver’s licence

·Demonstrated experience diagnosing and repairing passenger and light motor vehicles.

·Sound knowledge of engines, transmissions, braking, steering and suspension systems.

·Experience using automotive diagnostic scan tools and computer-based diagnostic equipment.

·Ability to interpret diagnostic trouble codes, technical information and manufacturer repair procedures.

·Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.

·Ability to work independently and as part of a workshop team.

·Good attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship.
