About the Role

As a Mental Health Registered Nurse with HealthX, you will deliver recovery-focused, evidence-based mental health care across CQHHS facilities. You will work within multidisciplinary teams to support consumers experiencing acute and chronic mental health conditions across inpatient, community, and outreach settings.

Key responsibilities

Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments, including risk and mental state examinations
Provide recovery-oriented nursing care and therapeutic interventions
Support crisis assessment, de-escalation, and acute behavioural management
Participate in care planning and multidisciplinary case conferences
Administer medications and maintain accurate clinical documentation
Liaise with families, carers, and community services to support continuity of care
Support discharge planning and community reintegration
Work within the framework of the Mental Health Act and relevant Queensland Health policies

Rockhampton Hospital Mental Health Unit
Gladstone Mental Health Services

Community & Outreach Services:

Central Queensland Mental Health, Alcohol and Other Drugs Service (Rockhampton)
Community Mental Health Teams (Rockhampton, Gladstone, Emerald region)
Older Persons Mental Health Services
Child and Youth Mental Health Services
Acute Care Teams and Crisis Assessment Services

Regional & Rural Coverage:

What you’ll need

Current AHPRA Registration as a Registered Nurse (Division 1)
Minimum 1 year recent Mental Health Nursing experience
Experience in acute mental health, community, or inpatient settings
Strong skills in risk assessment, de-escalation, and recovery-focused care
Current Australian working rights (non-sponsorship contract opportunities)
Ability to work across rotating rosters in regional and rural environments
Desirable: Mental Health Act experience and post graduate mental health qualifications
