Leading Hand Timber Manufacturing | Bassendean
AWX is seeking an experienced and motivated Leading Hand to join a busy timber manufacturing facility based in **Bassendean**, producing new timber pallets, wooden boxes and timber packaging products.
This is a hands-on position suited to someone who enjoys working on the floor, supporting a team and keeping production running efficiently.
About the Role
As Leading Hand, you'll work alongside the production team while assisting with the day-to-day coordination of workflow, safety and productivity.
Your duties will include:
- Leading and supporting General Hands and Production Workers
- Coordinating daily workloads and production priorities
- Operating a forklift to move timber, materials and finished products
- Loading and unloading materials as required
- Operating machinery used to manufacture and assemble timber pallets
- Operating timber cutting machinery to cut wood to required sizes
- Assisting with the manufacture of wooden boxes and timber packaging
- Using pneumatic nail guns, grinders and other hand/power tools
- Monitoring productivity and quality standards
- Ensuring safe work procedures are followed
- Assisting with training and supporting new team members
- Identifying and escalating production or safety issues
- General hands-on production and labouring duties as required
- Maintaining a clean, organised and safe work environment
To be considered, you'll need:
Current LF Forklift Licence essential
- Previous experience in a Leading Hand, Team Leader or senior production role
- Forklift operating experience
- Experience within manufacturing, production, warehousing, timber or a similar environment
- Confidence working with machinery and hand/power tools
- Strong communication and people skills
- Ability to organise workloads and keep a team on task
- A hands-on approach this is not an office-based supervisory position
- Good understanding of workplace safety
- Current driver's licence and reliable transport
- Ability to complete a pre-employment medical, functional assessment and drug & alcohol screen
- Unrestricted Australian working rights
