- Perform core yard and sampling duties with a focus on safety and accuracy.
An opportunity is available for two experienced Core Yard / Sample Technicians to join an established gold mining operation in Western Australia.
Working on an 8 days on, 6 days off FIFO roster from Perth, approximately 70% of the role will be based in the core yard, with the remaining 30% focused on MOP and toll-treatment sampling at the ROM.
This is a casual contract through to October, with the potential for further work for strong performers.
Key Responsibilities
- Processing and preparing diamond drill core
- Core orientation, metre marking, photography and recoveries
- Magnetic susceptibility, RQD and density measurements
- Core cutting, sampling and sample preparation
- RC and diamond drill sample handling
- Collecting and preparing MOP and toll-treatment samples
- Completing QA/QC requirements and sample documentation
- Preparing sample dispatches and maintaining accurate registers
- Moving, storing and organising sample bags and core trays
- Maintaining a clean, organised and safe core yard
- Assisting the geology team with other field or sampling duties as required
About You
You will be practical, physically fit and comfortable working in a hands-on role. You will have strong attention to detail and understand the importance of accurate sampling, labelling and record keeping.
Essential Requirements
- Previous mine-site core yard or geological sampling experience
- Experience processing RC and/or diamond drill samples
- Understanding of sampling procedures and QA/QC requirements
- Current WA C-class manual driver’s licence
- Strong safety focus
- Ability to complete repetitive manual-handling tasks
- Reliable, team-focused and available for an 8/6 FIFO roster from Perth
Highly Regarded
- Previous gold mining experience
- MOP, ROM or toll-treatment sampling experience
- Core cutting and core orientation experience
- Forklift or other High Risk Work Licence
- Experience working in an open-pit mining or exploration environment
This role would suit an experienced Core Yard Technician, Field Assistant, Geological Technician or Sample Preparation Technician seeking a short-term FIFO opportunity with the potential to continue beyond the initial contract.
