General Labourers Wanted - Local Council Opportunities

Pay Rate: $33.21ph - $35.37ph | 9-Day Fortnight | Expression of Interest
Locations: Across the Northern Rivers.

Spinifex Recruiting is seeking motivated and reliable labourers to register with us for upcoming Council opportunities across a range of departments. These roles offer full-time hours, ongoing potential, and a great chance to get your foot in the door with local Councils throughout the Northern Rivers.

About the Roles

We regularly recruit for labouring positions across a variety of Council departments, including:

• Civil Construction & Road Maintenance
• Water & Wastewater Operations
• Resource Recovery & Waste Facilities
• Parks & Gardens
• Open Spaces & General Maintenance
• Infrastructure & Community Services

You'll be working alongside experienced Council teams helping deliver essential services and projects that directly benefit the local community.

Start Date: Opportunities arise regularly, generally with ASAP starts

Pay Rate: Depending on the role, between $33.21ph - $35.37ph

Schedule: Full-time hours working a 9-day fortnight (every second Friday off!)

Depot Locations: Byron Bay, Tweed Heads, Murwillumbah and surrounding areas

Duties May Include

• General labouring and maintenance tasks
• Assisting with civil construction and road maintenance works
• Supporting water and wastewater operations
• Resource recovery and waste facility duties
• Parks and gardens maintenance, mowing, brush cutting, planting and landscaping
• Operating hand and power tools
• Assisting tradespeople, plant operators and Council crews
• Site clean-up and general housekeeping
• Following all workplace health and safety procedures

What We're Looking For

• Strong work ethic and positive attitude
• Previous experience in labouring, construction, civil, landscaping, maintenance, waste management or similar outdoor roles
• Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Team player who contributes positively to the workplace
• Willingness to learn and take on a variety of tasks
• Reliable, punctual and safety-focused

Essential Requirements

• White Card (Construction Induction Card)
• Current Driver's Licence and reliable transport
• Minimum 6 months labouring, civil, construction, landscaping, maintenance or similar experience preferred
• Ability to pass pre-employment checks including references, drug and alcohol screening, and physical assessments
• Full Australian working rights (Working Holiday Visa holders are not eligible)

Bonus Points If You Hold

• MR or HR Driver's Licence
• Traffic Control Tickets
• Plant Operator Tickets and relevant experience
• Chainsaw, Brush Cutter or Chemical Application Tickets
• Water Industry or Civil Construction tickets
