Industrial Painter/ Blaster

KEY POINTS WE FOUND
  • Prepare, blast and paint fabricated steel in accordance with quality and safety standards.
  • Operate blasting and painting equipment, including overhead cranes and forklifts.
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping and assist in workshop duties.

About the Role

We’re looking for an experienced Industrial Painter / Blaster to join our Kingsford, SA workshop. You’ll be hands-on preparing, blasting and painting fabricated steel, ensuring every job meets our quality and safety standards.

This is industrial painting — not automotive spray painting. We’re looking for someone who understands abrasive blasting, surface preparation and protective coatings and takes pride in delivering a quality finish.

You’ll operate blasting and painting equipment, carry out quality checks and help keep the workshop, yard and dispatch areas running smoothly. Crane and forklift operation will also be part of the role where authorised.

If you know your way around blast and paint, take pride in your work and are committed to doing the job safely and properly, we want to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret job cards, work orders and production schedules to determine job instructions and specifications.

  • Set up and operate tools and equipment relevant to the blast and paint trade.

  • Safely and efficiently operate blasting equipment to remove corrosion and prepare fabricated components in accordance with job specifications.

  • Prepare surfaces and apply protective coatings in line with job specifications, relevant standards and technical data sheets.

  • Complete touch-ups and rework as required to ensure product quality standards are met.

  • Identify and report faulty equipment, defective materials or product issues.

  • Operate overhead cranes and forklifts (where licensed and authorised) to move steel within the paint/blast bay.

  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping and conduct routine maintenance of work areas, tools and equipment.

  • Assist in yard, dispatch and workshop duties as required.

Skills and Experience

  • Trade qualification in blasting and painting, or relevant industry experience.

  • Sound knowledge and practical experience in abrasive blasting and industrial painting.

  • Strong commitment to safety and reliable work practices.

  • Good physical fitness, coordination, manual dexterity, hearing and vision.

  • Reliable, cooperative and team-oriented attitude.

  • Genuine interest in industrial blasting and painting, with a willingness to learn and develop.

  • Current forklift licence and crane operating experience.

  • Strong understanding of blast and paint hazards and associated safety requirements.
