Position Overview

The ICT Quality Assurance Engineer is responsible for planning, designing, executing and maintaining software quality assurance and testing activities across Crystal Movers' information and technology systems. The position ensures that software applications, digital platforms, integrations and system enhancements meet functional, technical, performance, security and business requirements before deployment.

The role works closely with software developers, business stakeholders, project personnel and management to identify defects, assess system risks, improve testing processes and support the delivery of reliable and high-quality ICT solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyse business, functional and technical requirements to develop comprehensive software testing strategies and test plans.
  • Design, document and maintain detailed test cases, test scenarios, test scripts and test data.
  • Perform functional, integration, system, regression and user acceptance testing of ICT applications and software solutions.
  • Execute manual and automated testing processes to identify defects, inconsistencies and system performance issues.
  • Validate software functionality against approved technical specifications and business requirements.
  • Identify, document, classify and track software defects using appropriate defect-management and issue-tracking systems.
  • Investigate reported defects and work with developers to reproduce, diagnose and resolve software issues.
  • Conduct regression testing following software fixes, system enhancements and new releases.
  • Perform API and integration testing to verify communication and data exchange between internal and third-party systems.
  • Test web-based applications, mobile interfaces, databases and other digital systems used within the organisation.
  • Develop and maintain automated testing scripts and frameworks where appropriate to improve testing efficiency and coverage.
  • Conduct data validation and database testing to ensure accuracy, completeness and integrity of information.
  • Perform cross-browser, cross-platform and compatibility testing to identify application behaviour issues.
  • Participate in software release planning, deployment validation and post-release quality checks.
  • Monitor application performance and identify potential quality, reliability and usability issues.
  • Assess testing results and prepare test execution reports, defect reports and quality assurance documentation.
  • Collaborate with developers, project managers, business analysts and other ICT personnel throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Review technical specifications, system designs and development documentation to identify potential quality risks at an early stage.
  • Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of QA standards, procedures, testing methodologies and quality controls.
  • Support the implementation of quality assurance processes consistent with organisational ICT policies and industry practices.
  • Maintain test environments and ensure appropriate test data and configurations are available for testing activities.
  • Assist with root-cause analysis of recurring software and system defects.
  • Provide recommendations to improve application reliability, usability, maintainability and overall system quality.
  • Ensure testing activities and outcomes are properly documented for audit, release and operational purposes.
  • Stay informed about emerging software testing tools, automation technologies and quality assurance methodologies.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Relevant qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related ICT discipline.
  • Demonstrated professional experience in software quality assurance and testing.
  • Knowledge of software development and testing methodologies.
  • Experience preparing test plans, test cases and test scripts.
  • Experience identifying, analysing and reporting software defects.
  • Knowledge of database, API and integration testing.
  • Understanding of software development lifecycle and release management processes.
  • Experience with testing tools, defect-management systems and/or test automation frameworks is desirable.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
