We’re seeking a Housing Officer to support an important community housing initiative on Thursday Island. Working closely with tenants, local stakeholders and community partners, you’ll play a key role in helping residents access and sustain safe, affordable housing while contributing to positive outcomes across the community.

The Opportunity:
 
Based on Thursday Island, you will be responsible for supporting tenancy management, building positive relationships within the community and acting as a trusted local contact for tenants and stakeholders.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys working with people, can confidently navigate challenging situations and is passionate about supporting others within their community.
  
You’ll be joining a respected organisation with a long history of delivering housing solutions throughout regional Queensland while helping establish and support an important local housing project on Thursday Island.
 
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Manage tenancy matters including rent collection, breaches and tenant support
  • Build productive relationships with tenants and community stakeholders
  • Support residents to sustain successful tenancies
  • Maintain accurate records and tenancy documentation
  • Liaise with government agencies and community organisations
  • Promote positive housing outcomes and community engagement

Skills & Experience:
 
To be successful, you will demonstrate:

  • Experience in housing, community services, human services or a related field
  • Strong relationship-building and communication skills
  • The ability to navigate challenging conversations professionally
  • Confidence working independently and within the local community
  • Current Driver Licence
  • Blue Card
  • Yellow Card
  • Ability to obtain a Criminal History Check
