Spinifex Recruiting is currently seeking experienced horticulture and open spaces personnel for multiple casual opportunities with a local government organisation in Ballina.
Whether you're a qualified horticulturist, experienced labourer, or skilled mower operator, we have opportunities available within the Open Spaces team.
Current Opportunities
We are actively recruiting for the following roles:
Tradesperson - Horticulture (JG7)
- Cert III Horticulture (or higher) required
- Undertaking horticultural maintenance and improvements within public open spaces
- Chemical application and weed management activities
- General horticulture, gardening, landscaping and labouring duties
- Supporting the ongoing presentation and maintenance of parks and reserves
Labourer Horticulture (JG2)
- Assisting with the maintenance of parks, gardens and open spaces
- General labouring and grounds maintenance duties
- Weed control and vegetation management activities
- Working as part of the Open Spaces team to maintain public areas
- Chem Cert highly regarded
Plant Operator - Zero Turn Mowers (JG4)
- Operating commercial zero-turn mowers within parks and open spaces
- Supporting grounds maintenance and labouring activities as required
About the Roles
These are casual assignments expected to run for approximately 6-8 weeks (Potentially ongoing). Duties will vary depending on the role and placement and may include a mix of horticulture, grounds maintenance, plant operation and general labouring activities.
Key Responsibilities May Include
- Maintaining parks, gardens, reserves and public open spaces
- Operating plant and equipment safely and efficiently
- General labouring and site support activities
Essential Requirements
- Current Driver Licence
- White Card
- General labouring or outdoor work experience
- Ability to undertake physically demanding work
- Strong commitment to workplace health and safety
Highly Regarded
- Local Government experience
- Open Spaces, parks or grounds maintenance experience
- Chainsaw tickets or other relevant licences
- Landscaping or horticulture background
- Chemical application experience
- Additional plant operating experience
