ABOUT THE ROLE

Transit Systems has multiple positions for Heavy Vehicle Mechanics at its South Granville depot. The principle responsibilities include:

  • Undertaking minor repairs on buses in a timely fashion to ensure every driver has a bus to take on the road.
  • Adhere to a kilometre-based service schedule, entailing minor and major services as well as vehicle inspections.
  • Carry out twice yearly fleet inspections for vehicle compliance with RMS. Inspecting vehicles ahead of registration and ensuring fleet quality is optimal for presentation to passengers and inspectors.
  • Attending to on-road break downs for various faults from damaged mirrors to seized motors or brakes locked on.

ABOUT YOU

  • Demonstrated work experience as a Heavy Vehicle Diesel Mechanic
  • Relevant Trade qualifications (MVIRA)
  • Hold a MR or HR driver’s license or the ability and willingness to obtain one
  • Adherence to relevant company policies and procedures relating to health and safety, quality assurance and other aspects of the business
  • Ability to complete pre-inspection of vehicles for RMS inspection
