We are seeking a Health & Safety Advisor to support project teams, review safety documentation, conduct audits, provide practical advice, and help embed health and safety requirements into day-to-day project delivery.

You'll be supported by HDR's established global Safety, Health & Environment team and work closely with Australian operational leaders, project managers and Human Resources while serving as the primary Health & Safety resource for Australia.

The role can be based in Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane and offers flexibility to work either part-time or full-time, depending on the successful candidate's preferences and business needs.

In the role of Health & Safety Advisor you will:

  • Provide practical health and safety advice to employees, managers and project teams.
  • Support incident reporting, investigations and the implementation of corrective actions.
  • Deliver HSE training, inductions and safety awareness activities.
  • Assist with preparing HSE reports, metrics and project documentation.
  • Support the implementation of broader safety initiatives in partnership with HDR's global safety team.
  • Support local health, safety and wellbeing initiatives that improve outcomes for employees and project teams.

What Support You'll Have

  • Access to HDR's global Safety, Health & Environment network.
  • Partnership with Australian operational leaders and project managers.
  • Support from Human Resources on wellbeing and psychosocial initiatives.
  • Established global safety systems, processes and reporting frameworks.

About You

You are a practical and collaborative safety professional who enjoys working directly with project teams. You are comfortable reviewing safety documentation, conducting audits, identifying risks and helping teams develop practical solutions that support safe project delivery.

You will bring:

  • Experience in a Health & Safety Advisor, HSE Advisor or similar role.
  • Experience supporting projects within engineering, consulting, infrastructure, construction, professional services or related environments.
  • Experience developing, reviewing or implementing HSE plans, risk assessments or other project safety documentation.
  • Knowledge of health and safety legislation and risk management principles.
  • Experience conducting audits, inspections and compliance reviews.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • The ability to work independently while building effective relationships across a variety of teams.
  • Relevant health and safety qualifications.
  • Willingness to travel across HDR’s Australian offices as required.

Why HDR?

You'll join a collaborative team where health and safety is valued and supported globally, while remaining closely connected to local project teams and operations. This role offers the opportunity to make a practical impact on projects and people every day. #LI-CG3
