Our client is a growing plant and equipment hire business servicing the construction, civil and infrastructure sectors. With an expanding fleet and increasing demand, they are looking for an experienced Fleet & Hire Team Lead to take ownership of their day to day fleet and hire operations.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who understands plant and equipment, enjoys a fast paced operational environment and wants to play a key role in a growing business.

The Role

You will be responsible for coordinating the day to day management of the fleet, ensuring equipment is available, well maintained and where it needs to be to meet customer requirements.

Key responsibilities will include:
• Managing and coordinating the day to day plant and equipment fleet
• Monitoring fleet availability, utilisation and movements
• Coordinating equipment allocations, deliveries, collections and transfers
• Working closely with the hire team to ensure equipment is available and ready for customer requirements
• Liaising with transport providers, operators, technicians and customers
• Ensuring returned equipment is inspected and prepared for its next hire
• Monitoring servicing, maintenance and compliance requirements
• Identifying opportunities to improve fleet utilisation and reduce downtime
• Supporting fleet planning and procurement as the business continues to grow
• Maintaining accurate fleet records and hire information
• Resolving operational issues and keeping customers informed
• Helping develop and improve processes across the fleet and hire function

About You

We are looking for an experienced fleet, hire or equipment professional who is comfortable taking ownership in a busy operational environment.

Your background may include:
• Plant and equipment hire
• Heavy machinery or earthmoving
• Fleet management
• Transport and logistics
• Civil construction
• Equipment rental

You will have a strong understanding of plant and equipment and the practical requirements involved in getting machinery to and from construction sites.

You'll also be organised, commercially minded and confident dealing with customers, suppliers and internal stakeholders.

Organisation: You can manage multiple moving parts and ensure equipment gets where it needs to be, when it needs to be there.

Problem Solving: You are proactive when things don't go to plan and focused on finding practical solutions.

Commercial Thinking: You understand the importance of maximising fleet utilisation, minimising downtime and keeping equipment productive.
