Join Roy Morgan and help capture the views, experiences, and behaviours of people across Western Sydney! As a Field Research Officer, you'll work within your local community, introduce yourself on behalf of Roy Morgan, and invite people to take part in important research.

This is a face-to-face field role involving door knocking and engaging with households that are generally not expecting your visit. Your ability to build rapport, communicate confidently and remain resilient will play a key role in your success.

Our Field Interviewers collect accurate, high-quality data that informs government, business, and community decisions across the country.

What you'll do

  • Initiate conversation and engage with participants who are generally not expecting your visit and invite them to participate in impactful research
  • Build rapport quickly, manage refusals and objections professionally, and ensure informed consent
  • Conduct accurate, structured interviews on a wide range of topics using a tablet
  • Record observations, follow safety and privacy protocols, and maintain strict confidentiality
  • Plan your weekly schedule to meet agreed hours, including at least one weekend day

All interviews are conducted using Roy Morgan's secure systems. We provide full training, a clear field manual, and ongoing support from experienced field managers.

Essentials

  • Availability of at least 20 hours per week (including two weekdays and one weekend day; flexibility to add hours at peak times)
  • Current driver's licence and a reliable, registered vehicle
  • Fluent English (spoken and written) and the legal right to work in Australia
  • Willingness to obtain a National Police Check and Working with Children's Check (paid by Roy Morgan)

  • Organised self-starter: You manage your time effectively, plan routes, keep accurate records, and work independently to achieve outcomes.
  • Tech-comfortable: You're confident using tablets and following on-screen scripts, procedures and protocols.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience in field interviewing, door-to-door outreach, customer service, hospitality, retail, community services, education, fundraising or call centre environments.
