The Opportunity
Our client is a longstanding South Australian custom home builder and property developer, specialising in high-quality, personalised residential construction.
Over the years, they have built a strong reputation for quality construction and long-term client relationships, with much of their work coming from repeat clients across a mix of custom and volume-build projects, private developers and homeowners.
Delivering homes and developments with a strong focus on accuracy, efficiency and client experience, this business is looking for an experienced Estimator to take ownership of the estimating function.
The Role
As an Estimator, you will be responsible for producing accurate quantity take-offs, building complete estimates, reviewing plans and quotes, and supporting procurement and assisting the construction team with cost control throughout the project lifecycle.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Producing accurate quantity take-offs from architectural, structural and civil drawings, ensuring full scope coverage
- Preparing complete, competitive cost estimates using industry-standard estimating software
- Issuing RFQs and evaluating subcontractor and supplier quotations to ensure complete scope coverage and competitive market pricing
- Procuring materials and services, issuing Purchase Orders and maintaining accurate procurement records
- Collaborating with Project Managers, Site Supervisors and design teams to align estimates with construction methodologies and project programmes
- Supporting the construction team throughout project delivery by assisting with cost control, variations and tracking actual costs against estimates
The Like Mind
You will have experience estimating residential construction projects and enjoy working in a smaller business where collaboration, accountability and teamwork are valued.
You will bring:
- Proven experience as a Construction Estimator in residential construction (custom homes preferred).
- Strong ability to interpret architectural, structural and civil drawings, including site works and cut/fill requirements
- Proficiency with estimating software such as Cubit, CostX, Buildxact or Excel-based systems
- Sound understanding of site works, cut/fill calculations, retaining walls, and spoil management.
- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to collaborate across both site and office teams
