Our client is a well-established specialist ground engineering contractor delivering geotechnical and drilling solutions across Queensland. With a strong reputation for safety, quality, and technical expertise, they are seeking a motivated Drill Rig Operator / Excavator Operator to join their Cairns-based team and contribute to a variety of exciting projects across the region.
Your new role
Working on a Monday to Friday (5/2) roster, you will operate a 13-tonne Komatsu excavator fitted with a TEI drill mast across a range of civil and geotechnical projects. Based out of Cairns, you will generally work 1012-hour days and play a key role in ensuring drilling operations are completed safely and efficiently.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Operating a 13T Komatsu excavator with TEI drill mast attachments
- Assisting with geotechnical and ground engineering projects
- Conducting pre-start inspections and basic equipment maintenance
- Working collaboratively with site crews and project teams
- Ensuring compliance with workplace health and safety requirements
- Travelling to regional project sites when required
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Previous experience operating excavators in civil, drilling, construction, or related environments
- An Excavator Ticket/Ticketed competency (highly regarded)
- White Card
- Working at Heights certification (desirable)
- HR Driving Licence (desirable)
- Strong commitment to safety and quality workmanship
- Ability to work extended 1012-hour days when required
- A positive attitude and willingness to travel for project work
