Exciting and rare opportunity to join NSW State Government and manage engineering projects along with a small team.

Reporting to the Manager Fleet Production, you will be responsible for leading projects for the design/development of specialised appliances, to deliver a risk-based planning approach, and provide technical specifications and procurement solutions for fit for purpose products.

This role is a 6 month contract with a potential opportunity for extension or permanency and is based in Western Sydney.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and lead engineering tasks for appliance design and development, providing innovative solutions in line with membership requirements and identifying improvement opportunities.
  • Supervise and mentor team members, ensuring performance standards, workload balance, and service delivery goals are met.
  • Oversee project implementation, including planning, resource coordination, costing, risk management and reporting, and compliance with relevant standards.
  • Monitor and assess appliance designs to meet organisational requirements, maintain business continuity and ensure products/services are fit for purpose.
  • Identify, analyse, and assess safety, technical, financial, and quality risks and incorporate processes for the treatment and monitoring of risks

To be considered for this role you will need to possess the following:

  • An Advanced Diploma in a relevant technical field (e.g. mechanical, civil, electrical/mechatronic, etc) or equivalent expertise.
  • Advanced knowledge in technical management, research and problem solving with the ability to develop and implement complex research and development projects.
  • Experience in engineering design principles which includes the interpretation of drawings, models, specifications and standards.
  • An understanding of design best practice principles as aligned to Australian Design Rules.
  • Experience leading a small team to achieve design-related outcomes.
