Develop your in-house legal career within a reputable government organisation

Your new role
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a lawyer looking to step into an in-house legal role offering lots of variety within a supportive and collaborative organisation.
Working as part of a close-knit legal team, you will gain exposure to a diverse range of legal matters across litigation, property, governance, regulatory, contracts and advisory work. This is an excellent opportunity for a lawyer who enjoys variety, wants to develop their commercial and strategic advisory skills, and is looking to move beyond a specialised practice area. The role offers hands-on responsibility, meaningful stakeholder engagement and the chance to work across a range of interesting projects that have a direct impact on the community.

What you'll need to succeed
You will be an admitted Australian solicitor with approximately 24 years' PAE. However, we welcome applications from lawyers outside this level.
We are interested in speaking with lawyers from a range of different backgrounds, including:

  • Litigation and dispute resolution
  • Government or public sector
  • Commercial and advisory
  • Property
  • Planning and environment
  • In-house legal teams
  • Experience within local or state government would be highly regarded but is not essential.

You will also be a practical and commercially minded lawyer who can work independently, build strong stakeholder relationships and contribute positively to a small, high-performing team.
What you'll get in return

  • Develop your legal career in-house within a reputable government department
  • Supportive and down-to-earth team culture
  • Genuine work-life balance and flexibility
  • Hybrid working arrangements
  • Free on-site parking and convenient public transport access
  • Opportunity to broaden your experience beyond a traditional law firm environment
  • 12-month fixed-term contract available
