About Us:
Vic Slabs Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced Steel Fixer to join our team at Para Hills West, South Australia. The successful applicant will be responsible for preparing, cutting, bending, positioning and securing reinforcing steel bars and mesh for concrete slabs and other construction projects, ensuring work is completed according to construction plans and specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Read and interpret construction drawings and plans to determine reinforcement requirements.
- Select, measure, cut, bend and shape reinforcing steel bars and mesh to required specifications.
- Position reinforcing steel bars and mesh within concrete forms for slabs and other structures.
- Tie and secure reinforcing bars and mesh using wire and appropriate fixing tools.
- Check the spacing, alignment and positioning of reinforcement before concrete pouring.
- Install steel reinforcement in accordance with construction plans and project specifications.
- Handle, lift and position reinforcing materials safely on construction sites.
- Use and maintain steel-fixing tools and equipment safely and efficiently.
- Work collaboratively with concreters, supervisors and other construction workers to complete projects.
- Follow workplace health and safety procedures and maintain a safe working environment.
Skills and Experience
- Relevant trade qualification in steel fixing or construction is desirable.
- Previous experience as a Steel Fixer or in a similar construction role.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and reinforcement plans.
- Skills in cutting, bending, positioning and securing reinforcing steel bars and mesh.
- Knowledge of steel-fixing tools, equipment and safe work practices.
- Ability to perform physical tasks and work effectively as part of a team.
