YOUR ROLE

As a valued trainee patent attorney in their winning Engineering+ ICT/Electronics teams, (led by some of Australia’s BEST of the BEST award-winning industry leading senior patent attorneys) you will delight in the challenge+ stimulation+ satisfaction of:

· applying your technical expertise+ commercial acumen in advising/creating strategies to protect+ enforce the patent rights of your blue-chip local/international clients.

Key responsibilities include: 1) interviewing inventors; 2) drafting technical descriptions of inventions/industrial designs+ advising on examination reports;3) interpreting/analyzing specifications/drawings/standards/literature/products+processes using your technical expertise+knowledge; 4) doing+ analyzing searches of inventions/designs; 5) preparing submissions to government patent/design offices to protect your clients’ patents/designs.

WHO YOU ARE

We are interested in hearing from you if you:

  • have a degree or higher qualifications [eg Masters/PHD] in Engineering (eg mechanical, electrical, telecommunications, aeronautical], Electronics, Computer Science/IT, Physics or similar with strong academics (honours);
  • are  EITHER: 1) already a trainee patent attorney currently  finishing your studies +nearing qualification as a patent attorney in Australia/NZ OR 2) have no prior experience/education in patents but have a SERIOUS DESIRE+ definite career goal of becoming a patent attorney;
  • are willing+able+ 100% committed [ESSENTIAL] to undertaking further studies (Master of Intellectual Property-part-time) whilst working full-time gaining practical experience as a trainee [over the next 2-4 years] to gain qualification as a registered Australian/NZ patent attorney;
  • have strong analytical+ technical skills/knowledge;
  • have some hands-on experience in prosecuting/drafting patents [desirable but not essential];
  • have outstanding communication, time management and people interaction skills;
  • are driven+committed to furthering your own SUCCESS to the MAX as a patent attorney long-term with a 1st-Class employer of choice;
  • are willing+able to relocate to Brisbane long-term/permanently.
