About the role
We are looking for a skilled and experienced Bricklayer to join our team. As a Bricklayer, you will be responsible for laying bricks, blocks, and other masonry materials to construct and repair walls, foundations, and other structures. Duties include interpreting plans, preparing surfaces, mixing mortar, and ensuring accurate alignment and quality finishes. The role may involve weekday and weekend work, including off-site projects as required.
Role and Responsibilities
- Reviewing construction drawings and specifications to determine dimensions, materials, and construction methods.
- Measuring, cutting, and shaping bricks, stones, and other masonry materials using hand tools and machinery.
- Applying damp-proof materials to foundations and using trowels to spread mortar as a base and bonding agent for bricks and blocks.
- Setting up and dismantling scaffolding within permitted height limits as required.
- Laying bricks, pre-cut stones, and other building blocks in mortar to construct walls, partitions, arches, and other structures.
- Arranging bricks in required patterns and designs while applying mortar evenly between joints.
- Embedding masonry blocks in mortar and removing excess material to achieve a clean finish.
- Checking horizontal and vertical alignment to ensure accuracy and quality of brickwork.
- Constructing walls and other structures using stone slabs and large masonry blocks.
- Repairing and maintaining brickwork, concrete blocks, walls, and other masonry structures.
- Carrying out decorative masonry work, including monumental stonework and lettering, where required.

Skills and experience
- Must have at least 1 year of experience working as a Bricklayer.
- Applicant must have a Certificate III or higher qualification
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow the procedures accurately.
- Excellent time management skills to meet the deadlines.
- Flexibility to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
