- Full-time, fixed term 12-month contract commencing Term 1 2027 – a full year with your own class

The Opportunity
St Margaret Mary’s School is seeking an enthusiastic and capable Primary Teacher to join our team for the 2027 school year on a full-time, fixed term basis. You will take responsibility for planning and delivering engaging, evidence-informed learning across the Australian Curriculum and the Crossways Religious Education framework, and nurturing the academic, social, spiritual and emotional growth of every child in your care.
This is a genuine teaching and learning role. You will work alongside a supportive year-level colleague and our Learning Support Team, draw on our specialist programs, and contribute to a whole-school culture where every student is known, valued and believed in as a capable learner. For an early-career teacher it is a well-scaffolded first step; for an experienced teacher it is a chance to bring your practice to a community that will notice and appreciate it.
Key responsibilities include:
- Plan, teach and assess high-quality, differentiated learning programs across all learning areas of the Australian Curriculum and the Crossways RE curriculum
- Build a safe, calm and inclusive classroom where positive relationships and student wellbeing underpin learning
- Use student data, including NAPLAN, PAT and classroom assessment, to monitor progress, set goals and adjust teaching so that every student grows
- Work in partnership with the Learning Support Team and Education Support Officers to implement Personalised Plans for Learning and adjustments under the NCCD
- Communicate openly and regularly with families, including through SEQTA, Learning Conversations and school reports
- Contribute actively to the Catholic identity, liturgical life and wider community life of the school, and engage in collaborative planning and professional learning with colleagues
About You
We are seeking someone who:
- Holds a recognised teaching qualification and current registration (or eligibility for registration) with the Teachers Registration Board of South Australia
- Demonstrates strong knowledge of the Australian Curriculum and contemporary, evidence-based approaches to literacy and numeracy in the primary years
- Builds warm, respectful relationships with children and brings energy, patience and a sense of fun to the classroom
- Is a reflective practitioner who welcomes feedback, uses data purposefully and is committed to ongoing professional growth
- Works generously as part of a team, communicates clearly with families and colleagues, and is organised and reliable
- Supports the Catholic ethos of the school and is willing to contribute to its faith life; a Graduate Certificate in Catholic Education (or willingness to complete it) is desirable
Why Us?
St Margaret Mary’s is small enough that every child, and every staff member, is known by name, and big enough to offer the programs, specialists and support that help teachers do their best work. We are proud of our warm, down-to-earth staff culture and of a Leadership Team that is visible, approachable and invested in the people who work here.
- A supportive, collaborative team culture with a strong focus on staff wellbeing
- Funded professional learning and a structured induction, with a mentor for early-career teachers
- Specialist teachers across the week, including Italian, providing quality non-instructional time
- A well-resourced Learning Support Team working alongside classroom teachers
- Salary and conditions in line with the CESA Enterprise Agreement, including access to salary packaging
- Preschool to Year 6 on one site, with a dedicated Preschool program and on-site Occasional Care and Out of School Hours Care

About Us
St Margaret Mary’s School is a welcoming and vibrant Catholic community in Croydon Park, in the heart of Adelaide’s inner western suburbs. We are one of the few Catholic schools in metropolitan Adelaide to offer a dedicated Preschool program, which means we walk alongside children and their families from their very first days of learning right through to Year 6, and we take that privilege seriously.
The wellbeing of our students is at the heart of what we do. We believe every child is a capable learner, and we build learning that is relevant to their lives, challenging and enjoyable. Our students are curious, confident and kind, and they are encouraged to lead from Reception onwards. Our families are warm, diverse and engaged, and they are the first to tell you that SMMS feels like a second home.
As part of Catholic Education South Australia, we belong to a system of more than 100 schools that offers teachers genuine career pathways, high-quality professional learning and the security of a large, values-driven employer. If you are looking for a school where you can know your students deeply, be supported by your colleagues and leaders, and make a visible difference every day, we would love to hear from you.
