As an Assistant Design Manager within Multiplex, you will support the coordination and delivery of design activities from development through to construction and completion. Working closely with the Design Manager, you will coordinate design consultants, manage documentation and key design interfaces, and work across the client, consultants, subcontractors and construction teams to resolve design issues and maintain alignment with the construction programme.

This role requires a proactive and collaborative design professional who can work across multiple disciplines, manage competing priorities and help ensure design outcomes support buildability, quality, compliance and successful project delivery.

The successful candidate will need:

  • A bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline.
  • Around five years' relevant experience within the construction industry, with a strong understanding of the design and project delivery process.
  • Experience coordinating design documentation and working with consultants, subcontractors and project delivery teams.
  • A sound understanding of design principles, buildability and the delivery of construction documentation.
  • Commercial and financial understanding of the construction industry, including exposure to estimating and procurement processes.
  • The ability to monitor design deliverables against programme, cost and quality requirements.
  • Experience identifying and assisting with the management of design risks, variations, value management opportunities and authority approvals.
  • Knowledge of the Building Code of Australia and relevant design compliance requirements.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively across client, consultant, subcontractor, commercial and site teams.
  • A proactive and collaborative approach, with the ability to manage competing priorities and drive design activities through to resolution.

A note on diversity: We're committed to building a workplace where people of all genders, cultures, identities, abilities and life experiences feel they belong. We welcome applications from people of all genders, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, culturally diverse communities, LGBTQIA+ communities, people with disability, and veterans.

You don't need to meet every requirement to be considered so if this role sparks your interest and you want to help build a better future, we'd like to hear from you. We're committed to a barrier-free recruitment experience. If you need any adjustments, simply let our Talent Acquisition team know.
