Client Description

Qualifications And Registrations

  • Tertiary qualifications as a Speech Pathologist
  • Current registration with Speech Pathology Australia
  • Current Drivers Licence

Knowledge And Experience

Essential

  • Demonstrated knowledge of varied allied health team professional roles and responsibilities
  • Demonstrated knowledge of person-centred approaches
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong computer literacy
  • Demonstrated high level organisational and time management skills and ability to prioritise workloads
  • Demonstrate ability to complete speech pathology assessments with a focus on expressive and receptive language
  • Interest in augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) options

Desirable

  • Experience in the field of paediatric and/or adult disability
  • Working knowledge of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)
  • Experience with augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) options
  • Knowledge and experience in complex communication needs and the prescription of assistive technology
  • Experience with complex behaviours and/or behaviours of concern

Core Skills

Specialist Skills and Knowledge

  • Experience with standardised and non-standardised speech pathology assessments
  • Ability to create person centred goals and therapy plans
  • Ability to work as a part of an MDT
  • Ability to delegate appropriate clinical tasks to allied health assistants

Interpersonal Skills

  • High level of interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal), including an ability to represent and negotiate on behalf of the organisation
  • Ability to work collaboratively across all areas of the organisation
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with persons with a disability, staff and advocates
