The role

We are seeking a full-time Butcher / Smallgoods Maker to join our production team at our Snowtown facility. Working within a licensed meat processing environment, you will prepare high-quality cuts and smallgoods to wholesale and retail specifications while maintaining our hygiene and quality standards.

Key responsibilities

•Select, inspect and grade meat and meat products to ensure quality and freshness

•Cut, bone, trim and portion carcasses and meat into wholesale and retail cuts

•Prepare special cuts to order and mince meat as required

•Prepare and make smallgoods such as sausages, hams, bacon and salami

•Weigh, label, price and package meat products for sale and dispatch

•Maintain food safety, hygiene and quality standards (HACCP/GMP); clean and sanitise equipment and work areas

•Operate and maintain meat processing tools and equipment safely

•Manage stock rotation, cold storage and inventory to support supply

•Advise customers on cuts and their uses and assist with wholesale and retail orders

Skills and experience

•Preference Certificate III in Meat Processing (or an equivalent qualification)

•At least 1-2 years of relevant full-time experience in butchering and/or smallgoods production

•Sound knowledge of Australian food safety, hygiene and animal welfare standards

•Physical fitness and the ability to perform manual work in a fast-paced, cold environment

•Attention to detail, reliability, and good teamwork and communication

Salary and benefits

$80,000 – $88,000 per annum, plus superannuation, commensurate with skills and experience and no less than the market rate for the role and location.
