Mr L's, a Mediterranean-inspired bar and restaurant at 23–25 Toorak Road, South Yarra VIC 3141, is looking for a talented Chef to join our kitchen team on a full-time basis. With an à la carte menu, small plates, lunch specials and three event spaces for private functions, our kitchen is busy, varied and creative.
About the role
You will work across day-to-day food production, functions and menu development, working closely with management and front-of-house staff to deliver consistent, high-quality Mediterranean dishes.
Key responsibilities
- Planning menus, estimating food and labour costs, and ordering food supplies
- Monitoring the quality of dishes at all stages of preparation and presentation
- Discussing food preparation issues with managers, dietitians, and kitchen and waiting staff
- Demonstrating techniques and advising on cooking procedures
- Preparing and cooking food for à la carte service and functions
- Explaining and enforcing food hygiene and safety regulations
- Selecting and training kitchen staff where required
- Freezing and preserving foods where required
Requirements
- Certificate III and Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery
- Diploma of Hospitality Management
- Minimum 1 year of experience working as a Chef, gained after completing your qualifications
- Sound knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Flexibility to work a roster including evenings, weekends and public holidays
Salary and conditions
- $80,000 to $82,000 per annum plus superannuation
- Full-time, ongoing position
