About the company
Pindan Beef Co, formerly the Kimberley Meat Company, is an export beef processing facility located between Broome and Derby in the Kimberley region of Western Australia.

Under new ownership and following a significant plant upgrade, the business is preparing to recommence processing and is building its team from the ground up.

Backed by a major international investor and part of a vertically integrated, paddock-to-plate pastoral business, this is a rare opportunity to shape an operation from day one.

About the role
Reporting to the Plant Manager, you'll lead day-to-day slaughter floor operations, making sure livestock are processed safely, efficiently, and to export and animal welfare standards.

You'll lead team leaders, slaughter floor employees and contractors, and play a key role in building a skilled, high-performing crew as the plant ramps up.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supervising daily slaughter floor operations to hit production and throughput targets
  • Managing labour allocation, workflow and downtime to drive efficiency
  • Monitoring and improving yields, recoveries and carcase value, and achieving cost-to-conversion targets
  • Ensuring compliance with animal welfare standards, including stunning and slaughter practices
  • Maintaining compliance with Export Control legislation, the Export Meat Rules, HACCP and customer (country) specifications
  • Conducting inductions, on-the-job training and competency assessments, and coaching your team
  • Leading WHS on the floor, including inspections, hazard identification and incident investigations
  • Working closely with QA, Livestock, Maintenance and the Boning Room to keep production running smoothly

About you

  • Proven supervisory experience in a meat processing facility, abattoir or similar production environment
  • Strong hands-on knowledge of slaughter floor operations
  • Sound understanding of animal welfare legislation and export food safety requirements
  • A good grasp of yields, recoveries, labour productivity and cost-to-conversion
  • Strong leadership, communication and conflict resolution skills
  • The ability to stay calm and make good decisions under pressure
  • A current Australian driver's licence

It would be highly regarded if you also have experience in an export-registered establishment, a Certificate III or IV in Meat Processing, a Frontline Management or leadership qualification, a current First Aid certificate, and a forklift or other high-risk work licence.

Why join Pindan Beef Co?

  • Be part of a genuine new start and set the standards and culture on the floor
  • Have real influence over how the plant runs as it ramps up
  • Secure, long-term backing from a well-capitalised owner
  • Enjoy the Kimberley lifestyle, with world-class fishing, boating, beaches and four-wheel driving on your doorstep
  • Relocation and housing provided
