We are growing our Perth Environment & Planning practice and are seeking an Associate to join our market-leading Environment & Planning team.

This is an exciting opportunity to work on some of Australia's most significant environmental, planning and land use matters. You will advise leading project owners, developers and private sector clients on complex environmental and planning approvals, land use and development matters, native title and Aboriginal cultural heritage and land access matters, carbon related matters, regulatory compliance, and strategic risk management for major projects across Australia.

The Opportunity

Corrs’ Environment & Planning team advises on complex and high-profile environmental, planning and land use matters across Australia. The team handles environmental approvals, planning scheme amendments, land use and development disputes, native title and cultural heritage, contaminated land, emissions and climate-related regulation, and environmental compliance and enforcement.

As an Associate, you will work closely with partner Naomi Hutchings, as well as the broader national Environment & Planning team. You will gain exposure to technically challenging matters while developing strong client relationships and building deep expertise in environment and planning law.

Naomi is recognised for advising clients on significant environment and planning matters across the energy, resources, infrastructure and development sectors. Her practice spans environmental approvals, planning and land use disputes, native title and Aboriginal cultural heritage, climate and emissions regulation, contaminated land, and strategic regulatory risk management.

You will advise a diverse range of leading clients, including:

• Resource and mining companies
• Industrial companies
• Agribusiness
• Major infrastructure developers
• Energy and renewables businesses
• Property developers and investors
• Transport and utilities providers
• Private sector project sponsors

What We're Looking For

We are seeking talented lawyers who combine strong technical capability with commercial judgement, intellectual curiosity and a genuine interest in environment, planning, native title and Aboriginal cultural heritage law.

Ideally, you will have:

• Approximately 3–4 years' post-qualification experience
• Experience gained at a leading Australian, international or specialist environment, planning, land use or regulatory practice
• Experience advising on environmental approvals, planning, land use, native title, Aboriginal cultural heritage or regulatory matters
• Experience in environment, planning and/or Aboriginal cultural heritage and native title law
• Experience managing aspects of complex matters and working directly with clients
• A collaborative approach and commitment to delivering exceptional client service
• The ability to work both autonomously and as part of a high-performing team
• Strong commercial awareness and practical judgement
