Data Engineer ( dbt / BigQuery )

$750-850 a day including super DOE
We’re partnering with a large enterprise on a data platform initiative and are looking for a Data Engineer to help evolve its existing analytics environment.
This is a hands-on role with a strong focus on dbt development and data modelling, improving the quality, consistency and accessibility of data across the business. You’ll also work with Looker and its semantic layer, with opportunities to contribute to the team’s move towards conversational analytics.
This role would suit a Data Engineer who's worked in a modern tech environment, or an Analytics Engineer comfortable with dbt, viz tools and analytics.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain dbt models and SQL transformations.
- Improve data models, transformation logic and data quality.
- Evolve existing Looker/LookML models, Explores and semantic layers.
- Work with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into effective data solutions.
- Support the evolution of analytics capabilities, including conversational analytics.
Skills & Experience
- Strong hands-on experience with dbt - this is the core requirement.
- Strong SQL skills and a solid understanding of data modelling.
- Experience with Looker and LookML, particularly semantic modelling.
- Exposure to GCP and BigQuery is advantageous but not essential.
- An interest in AI and emerging analytics capabilities is a plus, but not a requirement.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
