About us

The Hospital Research Foundation Group (THRFG) is a South Australian charity group that funds life-changing medical research and improved patient care. With a proud history spanning more than 60 years, we have grown from supporting a single hospital to funding research and care initiatives across multiple hospitals, universities and medical research centres, making a difference in over 60 areas of disease and illness.

Our group is made up of multiple charities, including Australian Breast Cancer Research, Australian Heart Research, Australian Prostate Cancer, Creative Health, Military and Emergency Services Health Australia, Palliative Care, Parkinson’s, Stroke and Arthritis. Beyond funding research, we deliver essential health services, programs and education to communities across South Australia and beyond.

About the role

As our Learning and Development Lead, you will join the People, Culture and Safety team and play a key role in building the capability of our people across the whole organisation. You will champion ELMO Learning as our subject matter expert, look after mandatory compliance training, and make sure policy updates are built into our learning modules. You will also manage the administration behind the scenes, including completing ELMO workflows when employees elect for training and professional development.

This is a 0.6 FTE position with real flexibility – we can work with you on the days and hours that suit you. You will assess training and development needs and recommend the right solutions, from running internal training sessions yourself to sourcing external opportunities where they add value.

Key responsibilities:

  • Act as the ELMO Learning subject matter expert, administering courses, learning pathways, assignments, records and reporting
  • Coordinate mandatory compliance training and keep learning content up to date as policies change
  • Identify learning and development needs with leaders and employees, and recommend practical training solutions
  • Design and deliver internal training and facilitation, including management and leadership development
  • Support professional development opportunities and complete the related ELMO administration workflows
  • Support learning and capability needs arising from organisational change, including the introduction of AI
  • Work alongside managers and the People, Culture and Safety team to build a culture of continuous learning

About you

You are a confident, people-focused learning professional with solid administration experience and the personal skills to work alongside managers at every level. You enjoy running training sessions yourself, you know when external training is worth it, and you are energised by helping people grow and adapt to change.

  • A minimum of 5 years’ full-time equivalent experience in Learning, Training or Organisational Development
  • Exceptional communication, stakeholder engagement and presentation skills
  • Experience mentoring and developing staff and volunteers
  • Experience working within funding frameworks such as NDIS, My Aged Care and ASES
  • Sound understanding of professional conduct, quality standards, audits and compliance
  • Willingness to travel and work across multiple locations, with a current valid driver’s licence
