We are currently seeking a high-calibre Lawyer to join our Competition practice, working closely with Partner, Mark Grime.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a sophisticated practice advising on complex and strategically significant competition and consumer law matters. The role will involve working with leading clients across a range of sectors on merger clearances, ACCC investigations, cartel and anti-competitive conduct issues, misuse of market power, consumer law risk, and broader regulatory strategy.

In this role, you will work on a broad mix of advisory, transactional and contentious matters, including:

  • advising on the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth) and related regulatory frameworks;
  • supporting merger clearance strategies, ACCC engagement, notifications and authorisation processes;
  • assisting clients in relation to investigations, compulsory information-gathering notices and enforcement matters;
  • preparing high-quality advice, submissions, compliance materials and transaction support documents;
  • working closely with partners and senior lawyers on complex legal and strategic issues; and
  • contributing to client development initiatives, market engagement and thought leadership.

About you

We are interested in candidates who can demonstrate:

  • approximately 2-5 years' post-qualification experience in competition and consumer law, regulatory law, or a closely aligned practice area;
  • strong technical ability, sound legal judgment and excellent analytical skills;
  • clear and polished drafting skills, with the ability to communicate complex issues succinctly and effectively;
  • a commercial mindset and a practical approach to client service;
  • strong organisational capability and the ability to manage competing priorities in a high-performing environment; and
  • a genuine interest in developing a long-term practice in competition law.

Experience advising on ACCC investigations, merger clearances, consumer law compliance or broader regulatory matters will be highly regarded.
